Superfoods – Every day people see more and more advertisements for these foods. Sellers promise a slim body, getting rid of all diseases and much more. Where did these products come from, are they really so therapeutic, what superfoods are, you will learn from this article.
What is a superfood
It is impossible to give a definite answer to this question, since the official term “superfood” does not exist. It can be considered that these are special foods that are rich in useful substances and have a unique effect on the body.
Every week, every person in the world, eats several superfoods, without even thinking about it. This kind of food is not as advertised, but has no less beneficial properties, allowing a person to recover faster. Scientific studies do not yet provide any indicators that could prove that the touted superfood is healthier than the usual one.
Every year, the popularity of superfoods advertised by popular showmen, pop stars and other famous people increases by 20-30%.
What foods are classified as superfoods?
Superfoods are divided into foreign and domestic. Most products that are rich in useful elements are simply not produced in our region. In this regard, supplies, dried berries or powders, ready to use, are produced.
Foreign
Abroad, superfoods are seriously fought, if not all, but a number of developed countries. For example, the EU passed a law that prohibits listing superfood phrases on packaging unless there is scientific evidence. If there is, the references must be indicated on the packaging or in the product documentation.
This had to be done because most Europeans, bought food only because of this label, not caring whether it was of good quality or not. For example, the British Association of Nutritionists conducted an independent study and determined that 61 percent of fellow citizens bought food only because it was labeled “superfood.”
Thus, we can say that foreign “superfood” is only a product that is grown in other countries, but not necessarily consumed. Foreign superfoods, are foods such as:
- kale;
- quinoa;
- amaranth;
- goji berries;
- açai berries;
- chia seeds.
Note! Superfood is a food rich in micronutrients, allowing to quickly replenish the lacking supply of vitamins and useful substances in the body. The fresher such a product, the more useful it is for a person, so domestic analogues are several times more useful than foreign ones.
