Before going on a diet, you may have a question about many products, about which you have heard many opinions and stories. Today we will tell you about what kind of rice you can eat on a diet to lose weight and how to cook this rice correctly to lose weight.
What kind of rice can I eat while on a diet?
Nutritionists say you can eat any kind of rice, it’s more important when you eat it and how you cook it. Rice is a complex carbohydrate that our body needs. Rice also contains a lot of calories. If you abruptly give them up, you will easily fall off while dieting. It is important to understand that these complex carbohydrates should not be eaten before bedtime, but in the morning or at lunchtime, when you know exactly what you will use up those calories during the day.
Many experts say that unpolished or unpeeled brown rice is much healthier because the product loses some of its qualities during processing. Simply put, the whiter the rice, the less healthful it is. After all, rice is processed so that it will remain edible for longer. After all, the coating can contribute to the fact that rice, when transported, can quickly ferment or spoil.
To understand why unpeeled rice is more useful let’s briefly describe the process of grinding rice: at special mills the first shell, which contains many useful vitamins, is removed from rice. Then, to give the grains a nice white appearance, rice is ground with a mixture of glucose and talcum powder. Naturally, this mixture is deposited on the rice grains as dust and is of no use to people. The result is a product that is quite poor in vitamins and nutrients.
So we get that the best dietary choice is brown rice, which is, of course, more expensive than regular rice. It is easy to find it on the store shelves by its color. It is much darker than ordinary rice.
How to cook rice in order to lose weight?
But even the usual one should not be discounted, because it is in the composition of many diets. If cooked properly, it can also be beneficial.
So, to cook plain white rice properly, we need:
- rinse the rice until the water is clear,
- Soak overnight in water at a ratio of 1 to 2 (1 cup of rice to 2 cups of water),
- In the morning, boil the rice until tender,
- After cooking, also thoroughly rinse the rice.
In this way we get rid of that starch on the rice, which is not desirable for our body during the diet.
Well, in other, darker types of rice, there is no need to get rid of the starch. Eat it and lose weight!
